Her passion for the characters shone through with strong and emotive dialogue, particularly through the parallels within the episode that brought back fond memories of the beginning of their epic love story.Robert was trying so hard to make the wedding perfect for Aaron, and the Dingle craziness that had interrupted their big day caused him to have a bit of a sulk. Maxine has often been praised for her emotional and powerful scripts as well as the way that she writes the characters and their relationships with such passion and care. The ”you know”, ”I know” lines in particular have become so significant for Robron and a favourite quote among their fanbase.I think it is safe to say that this was the most anticipated event of 2017 and fans were over the moon to know that Maxine had written the wedding. We empathised with Laurel as well as feeling the heartache that Ashley, a character we had known for nearly two decades, would never be the same again.In Ashley’s funeral episode, Laurel returned home after the funeral and fell asleep whilst watching the home videos he made for the family before he passed away. As for Aaron, he had seemingly moved on with Dr. Alex Mason.After his son Seb was born, Robert stepped up as a dad and realised that he could no longer carry on the way he had been. The scene where they were sat down holding hands reminded me of the moment they had shared in the woods during super soap week when discussing Robert’s past, which again evoked a fond nostalgia of the journey Robert and Aaron have been on together.And if everyone wasn’t already all in their feelings at this point, in comes Aaron fighting to get his man, putting Robert’s fears to rest by listing his flaws (that he understands and loves) such as his arrogance and his cocky attitude as well as all the good things Robert had done over the course of their relationship. Not only that but for the longest time Aaron also struggled with coming to terms with his sexuality, so being completely honest and open about his feelings was further character development that Maxine portrayed.Maxine made us all laugh and cry at the same time and if the dialogue in itself wasn’t enough, Adele’s Make You Feel My Love played in the background bringing back memories of Robert and Aaron’s first dance at their wedding.Everything in that moment when they finally reunited was simply perfect and seeing the two of them walk hand in hand in the street back to their home, metaphorically and physically, left us all feeling warm and fuzzy inside.Maxine has shown great continuity throughout her writing and the Robron reunion was everything that fans of the soap couple hoped it would be in terms of bringing the emotion and everything that they had been through bad and good full circle, paving the way for a brighter future together as a stronger couple.It was recently revealed that Charity Dingle had been sexually abused by D.I Bails and his associates when she was only 14.
