Here’s an amazingly delicious and authentic recipe for  Szechuan Sauce that we’ve been using ever since our trip to Shanghai a few years ago!I’m a huge fan of  Szechuan Sauce but hate all the preservatives, sugars and msg that go into store-bought versions, so we make our own at home. !On my hunt for great alternatives to traditional stir fry recipes I had a taste for something a bit spicier. Can be made in 5 minutes!

It is one of my favorites. Bought the Szechuan peppercorns ( ordered on line) and I’m never using store bought again. That makes it the perfect marinating sauce and the leftovers will be stored in the fridge to be used in another stir fry or to flavour leftover meat for my poke bowls As expected, the Five Spice powder was ‘way too prominent in the cooked dish.

I’ve made it both ways- with and without the peppercorns, and both turned out good.This sauce rocks!

The mixture should become thicker by now. I need to make this. I’ve made this sauce and all I can say is delicious! So the recipe below includes a fair amount of heat. I just need to buy some protein and veggies.

It has a multitude of uses, but mainly we’ve been using it for quick and easy stir fry or as a marinade for meat or tofu. I love making sauces. In sum, not bad, but not authentic.I made the sauce precisely as directed. ThankyouHey, I just tried your recipe, with balsamic vinegar and a mix of szechuan and madagascar wild pepper. I hadn't thought of making my own Szechuan sauce! Also, it is very deep and rich, with a thick texture, thanks to the cornstarch. Healthier than store-bought versions with no preservatives or msg, It is gluten-free adaptable and vegan! I commend you on a well done recipe! That sounds really good. When it begins to bubble, reduce the heat, and simmer for an additional 3 minutes, while constantly stirring. Oh, I also subbed dry sherry for the rice wine/ mirin.

So fast and easy!This version of Szechuan Sauce is FULL of flavor and can be made very spicy or kept very mild. It has such a rich flavor, with a spicy and sweet note to it, that is perfect on pretty much any dishes. Heat the mixture for about 4-5 minutes and mix constantly.
